AMO

Abbot Medical Optics, or AMO for short, is an American manufacturer of a wide range of high-quality contact lens solutions and eye care products and the name behind well known eye-care brands such as Complete, Blink and Oxysept.

But let’s not forget their selection of Total Care contact lens cleaners and solutions which are available as separate products or as a convenient multipack that contains enough of each product to last you for up to three months.

Blink is one of the best known brands of eye drops and it’s not hard to see why. The wide selection of specialised eye drops means that you will always find one that’s perfect for you. Such as Blink Contacts, an eye drop so gentle that it can safely be used while wearing your lenses.

AMO produces the Blink range of eye drops, which help to relieve dryness and discomfort during the day. They vary in treating differnt severity of dryness with preservative-free options. Best to consult an optician to be advised on the correct drop type.

AMO eye care products are generally formulated for use with the most common soft contact lens materials, including standard hydrogel and silicone hydrogel lenses. Not all products are universally compatible, so always check the packaging for specific compatibility information. If you wear a specialist lens type, such as rigid gas-permeable, scleral, or extended-wear lenses, consult your optician before introducing a new solution or drop to your care routine.

Complete is a multi-purpose solution: it cleans, rinses, disinfects, and stores your lenses in one simple step with no neutralisation required, making it a convenient everyday option. Hydrogen peroxide systems, such as AOSEPT PLUS or Easysept, deliver a more thorough clean by using a controlled oxidation process to break down protein deposits and eliminate pathogens. They require a special case with a neutralising disc and a minimum soaking time of six hours. Complete suits most routine wearers, while hydrogen peroxide systems are often preferred by those with sensitive eyes or heavy deposit build-up.

A good contact lens care routine should cover four areas: cleaning (removing protein, lipid, and microbial deposits from the lens surface), rinsing (flushing away loosened debris), disinfecting (eliminating bacteria, fungi, and other pathogens), and storing (keeping lenses hydrated and protected between wears). Ensure to replace your lens case every one to three months.
