If you're seeking a nutritious and balanced breakfast solution to spice up your routine - smoothies are the answer. Generously packed with key foods to boost your eye health, these fresh fusions of pureed goodness taste incredible and are great when you're on the go. Get in your vision-improving veg, vitamin C-rich fruit and Omega 3 fatty acids (important eye protecting-ingredients) before you even start your day.

To better your blend further, add a sprinkling of granola to your smoothie, giving it more texture and helping you to feel full throughout the morning, too. Our partnership with Club Rozalie, a granola subscription service, delivering batches of deliciously organic and flavourful combos to your door, can help you out. In fact, we've created our very own brand new breakfast flavour, Carrot Cake Granola, forming part of our exclusive freebie duo giveaway, alongside a free trial of our bestselling daily contact lenses, everclear ADM.

We love a good breakfast smoothie at Vision Direct, so we've put together our 2 favourite eye health-benefiting recipes to pair with your granola and put some pep in your step.

Go green smoothie

Upping your intake of leafy greens first thing in the morning might not sound super appealing. But, we promise that this tasty recipe will have you convinced. Featuring the antioxidant, beta-carotene (essential for improving your eyesight), the Go green smoothie also includes kiwi, which is high in vitamin C to help you fight off cataracts and other eye conditions.

Green smoothie in glass with straw

Here's what you'll need:

  • 100g fresh greens (such as spinach or kale)
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 160ml milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 banana
  • 90g kiwi fruit, peeled
  • ½ medium apple, peeled and cored
  • 5g fresh mint leaves
  • ½ lime, juice only
  • A handful of Club Rozalie granola

Method

Add your almond butter, kale and a small amount of milk to your blender, mixing it into a smooth paste. Put in the remaining ingredients, followed by the rest of the milk, and keep blending until it's reached your desired consistency.

Pink power smoothie

Add a pop of pink to your morning, with this simple smoothie, ideal for hydration and incorporating fatty acids to help normalise eye pressure and reduce dry eyes, eye infections and the risk of glaucoma.
