Eye Care

Looking after your eyes is vital to a healthy lifestyle. Even if you have never worn contact lenses or glasses, we stock several bestselling eye drops such as Blink, Hycosan, and our cost-effective own-brand, everclear, to stave off dry eyes and keep your eyes hydrated and comfortable for longer.

Alongside its most popular eye care brands, Vision Direct stocks a wide range of specialist ophthalmic brands. These include Scope Healthcare (Hycosan), Bausch + Lomb's Artelac and Blink ranges, and AMO eye care products. The full eye care catalogue covers lubricating drops, lid hygiene, eye vitamins, and eye wash solutions from both mainstream and specialist manufacturers, all available to order online with next-day delivery available.

Preservative-free eye drops do not contain antimicrobial preservatives, making them suitable for frequent daily use and for people with sensitive eyes or preservative intolerance. Multi-dose preservative-free drops, such as those in the Hycosan range, use patented dispensing technology to maintain sterility without preservatives. Preserved drops contain preservatives to prevent contamination once opened and are typically sufficient for occasional use, but can cause irritation if used frequently or by those with sensitive eyes.

Yes, some eye drops are specifically formulated for use during lens wear. Check the label: many preservative-free drops and drops marked as contact lens compatible can be used directly over soft lenses. Products such as Blink Contacts, certain Hycosan formulations, and Systane Ultra can be applied while wearing soft contact lenses. Drops containing preservatives, thick gels, or those not labelled as lens-compatible should be applied before inserting lenses or at least 15 minutes after removing them.

Many lubricating eye drops are suitable for use in children, but always check the individual product guidelines for age restrictions before use. Preservative-free formulations are generally preferred for children and for anyone using drops frequently. If a child is experiencing persistent eye dryness or irritation, it is advisable to seek advice from a GP or optician rather than relying solely on lubricating drops, as the underlying cause should be assessed.
