Multi-purpose solutions handle all stages of contact lens care, cleaning, rinsing, disinfecting, and storage in one product and require no neutralisation step. Hydrogen peroxide systems use 3% hydrogen peroxide to deeply disinfect lenses and must be fully neutralised before lenses can be inserted; this takes a minimum of six hours using the purpose-built case. Multi-purpose solutions are more convenient for daily use; hydrogen peroxide is preferred for sensitive eyes or wearers prone to deposit build-up.
