The Essilor Vision Foundation has grassroots initiatives in over 40 countries around the world that have helped more than 6 million people to access first-time vision care since 2013. Four million more are expected to benefit from these programs in 2017 alone.

Since 2014 we have supported Vision Aid Overseas. During this time we have provided financial support, glasses frames and lenses to 5 regional districts in Southern Ethiopia, fostering community growth.
This has resulted in screening for 185,000 people with 15,000 glasses wearers in the area.
In 2017 we endeavoured to extend this project for 3 years meaning we’ll send 21,000 frames and lenses by 2020.
We carefully measure and evaluate the impacts our business practices have. By engaging with local stakeholders, following sustainable purchasing strategies, embracing ethical business practices and through our unwavering of human rights and dignity we endeavour to positively contribute to society.
Donating a total of 12,840 sunglasses and 1,700 glasses frames.
We’re not just shipping glasses overseas, we’re doing our utmost to protect the environment by digitalising our delivery notes, this will save 12 tonnes of paper every year.
Plus, we’ve reduced our carbon footprint thanks to our new warehouse located nearer to our customers, this limits our delivery distances.

Our FP&A Analyst Anisha is instrumental in ensuring the company stays on track and on budget at all times. Thanks to her help in determining Vision Direct’s key performance indicators, the company is able to better understand our customers and the way the products they prefer to order and use.
Chief Marketing Officer
Ashley has spent over 15 years in marketing with a particular focus in online retail. His expertise across brand management, customer communications and organic SEO has brought Vision Direct to the attention of customers around the globe. This in turn has led to more people all over the world having easy access to the lenses they need.
Chief Operations Officer
Having studied and worked as an optometrist, Brendan’s vast knowledge of eye health and the optics industry has been a huge asset to Vision Direct. Brendan now uses his experience to help our customers get the most of their contact lenses, overseeing our customer service team and heading up operations in the warehouse.
Head of Customer Retention
As our Head of Customer Retention, Emma is always striving to improve the user experience for our customers. Not only has she overseen a drastic improvement to our email and customer communications programme, she is also actively involved in testing our website to make sure it is the best it can be.

Michael’s leadership has taken Vision Direct from a small business to one of the leading online contact lens retailers in the UK. With over 150 staff across Europe, Vision Direct is now able to offer clear sight to more people across the world.

Even as our business has grown, Richard has pushed our financial team to ensure our customers get the best possible price for the lenses they order. His background in both financial and commercial industries have been an invaluable asset to the day to day running of Vision Direct.

Since joining Zynab has ensured all our new microsites and landing pages are not only customer friendly, but also completely accessible and simple to use.

Internships at Vision Direct
Vision Direct offers young people ways into the working world, giving an opportunity to gain experience and grow with the company. We employ apprentices, helping them to achieve accreditation and introducing them to the working world. Ambitious graduates can embark on paid internships where they work alongside people with the very skills they want to develop and result in the prospect of a full position.
As well as giving people a chance to begin careers, we care about developing our staff. We ensure that our employees are able to attend training in key skills to learn and improve. For example, as our company grew, the management team went on a 3-day course fast-track management course so that they can engage, motivate and support our team. We also provide regular training in the form of skills based workshops with examples including Excel, Google Analytics and SQL.
With training available to all members of the team, there’s plenty of opportunity to further their learning and understanding. This is not just useful for their day job, but their careers and future opportunities, and helps to build a better-equipped team.
