TERMS AND CONDITIONS

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL RULES

  • Each entry must include the following: 1. The completed entry form on the page of visiondirect.co.uk/jingle, visiondirect.es/jingle or visiondirect.nl/jingle. 2. Files must be uploaded to WeTransfer and include the link on the form. 3. Uploaded files can be a sound document in .wav, .mp3, .wma, .mp4, .aac or .m4a format for the jingle, and a Microsoft Word document, or PDF for the short explanation of the jingle inspiration.
  • All genres of music will be accepted.
  • The entry cannot be owned in any part by a third party. The Entrant in submitting the entry asserts that the Entrant has sole or co-ownership to lawfully make such entry (Entrant must own 100% of the publishing rights to the song).
  • All entries submitted must be original and shall not infringe third party copyright or any other third party rights. Entries may have multiple co-writers, but only one name should be designated as the Entrant on the entry form.
  • The competition is open to all amateur and professional songwriters and anyone regardless of nationality or background.
  • Vision Direct reserves the sole and exclusive discretionary right to extend or restrict the entry deadline period.
  • There is no limit on the number of jingles Entrants may submit; however, only one prize will be awarded for the winning jingle.
  • The competition is open to all Vision Direct customers of all ages who are residents of the United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands (the "Entrants") - excluding employees of Vision Direct, their agents or anyone who is professionally associated with the competition.
  • There is no need to purchase a Vision Direct product to enter the competition.
  • There is a maximum of 4 participants per entry.
  • Any personal information supplied by the Entrant will be subject to the Privacy Policy of Vision Direct.
  • All submitted songs must be a maximum of 30 seconds in length. Lyrics exceeding the time limit will be disqualified.

JUDGEMENT PROCESS

An internal judging panel from all departments in Vision Direct will select the best 20 jingles, and shortlisted entries will be uploaded to the Vision Direct YouTube channel on the 4th of June.

The public can then help to get the Entrant extra points and increase their chance of winning by sharing and liking the Entrant's jingle online.This process will be until the 17th of June.

On the 17th of June, a judging panel of experts from the radio and music industry will then select the final winner based on melody, composition, originality, lyrics (when applicable) and popularity (from the YouTube likes). The winner will be announced on the 22nd of June on visiondirect.co.uk/jingle, visiondirect.es/jingle or visiondirect.nl/jingle.

Songs are judged equally on melody, composition, originality, popularity and lyrics (when applicable). All prizes will be awarded to the name as it appears on the entry form, and division of prizes among co-authors is the responsibility of winners. Entrant agrees to accept the final decision of Vision Direct and its judges.

DISCLAIMER

  1. Vision Direct will notify shortlisted Entrants and the winner by email. Entrant is responsible for providing up-to-date and correct email addresses to Vision Direct. Vision Direct is not responsible for Entrant's non-receipt of any Vision Direct emails for any reason, including but not limited to, server or email malfunctions.
  2. The announcement of the public vote will be made following the completion of the competition.
  3. Vision Direct will use its best efforts to announce the winners at the designated time, but will not be held liable for any unforeseen delays. Winners will be required to sign an affidavit confirming that the winner's song is original and he/she holds rights to the song. Failure or delay in signing and returning the form or Affidavit within a specified time period or provision of false information may result in the disqualification and an alternate winner being selected. Affidavits are subject to verification by Vision Direct.
  4. The winning Entrant agrees to unequivocally transfer all rights associated with the winning jingle royalty-free to Vision Direct for use in all media and perpetual use and without any licence, charge or other form of payment accruing therefrom.
  5. The winning Entrant agrees that should his/her jingles(s) be selected as a winner, Vision Direct shall have the right to use the shortlisted jingle(s) for any and all promotional and/or related purposes on any media in the European Union.
  6. Entrant acknowledges that all songs entered will be made public by being uploaded to YouTube. Entrant acknowledges that all songs entered may be distributed to judges who will be selecting the winners, and Entrant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold Vision Direct and judges harmless for liability, damages, or claims for injury or loss to any person or property relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in the campaign.
  7. By entering Vision Direct's Jingle Competition, Entrants and/or their parents or legal guardian (if such Entrant is a minor) agree to accept and be bound by the decisions of Vision Direct and its judges, which are final and binding in all matters. Entrant agrees to be bound by all terms of these official Vision Direct Terms & Conditions as established herein.
  8. Cash prize of £10,000 will be issued to the name on the entry form only. It is the responsibility of the winning entry to dispense winning accordingly in the event of a band/choir winning.
  9. The recording at Abbey Road Studios, London, England, is subject to availability. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate all parties with suitable date(s); the recording session is limited to date availability. Abbey Road Studios' terms and conditions for use of studio also applies.
  10. If and whenever required to do so, whether during or after the competition, the Entrant shall, at the request and expense of Vision Direct, do all things necessary, to execute such deeds and documents and provide all such assistance as Vision Direct shall require to enable Vision Direct to obtain and maintain the benefit of all Intellectual Property Rights and the Entrant acknowledges that he/she shall not be entitled to any compensation in respect of the performance of his/her obligations hereunder.
  11. The Entrant also agrees to waive and hereby does waive any and all moral rights he or she has or may have in any copyrighted work in accordance with The Copyright and Related Rights Regulations 2003, as amended.
