Air Optix contacts

Air Optix contact lenses are specially designed by Ciba Vision to allow more oxygen to get to your cornea. Older materials used to make contact lenses let through a lower level of oxygen to the eye, which stressed the cornea: typical symptoms include irritation, discomfort, redness, and drying of the eye. With Air Optix (which Ciba Vision brands “breathable contact lenses), Ciba Vision began using Silicone Hydrogel as a material to manufacturer the lenses.

Air Optix contacts not only allow more oxygen to get to the cornea (up to five times more oxygen!), its surface is also plasma treated to allow the lens to stay wet and move more freely over the eyes. This prevents residues from building up, and the moisturizing agent in the lenses give you a smoother experience.

This combination of breathability, resistance to deposits, and moisturizing agent is trademarked by Ciba Vision as TriComfort™ Technology, with the accompanying motto "See how natural they feel".

Although Air Optix lenses are designed to be changed daily, they have the ability to allow occasional overnight wear for up to 6 nights (according to Ciba Vision, this should only be done if approved by your optician).
